ACPE’s Physician Leadership Development Program

Research published in Social Science and Medicine demonstrated a strong correlation between physician leadership and top-performing health systems. In fact, U.S. News & World Report reported that nine of the top ten U.S. hospitals are led by physician CEOs.

So how do you teach physicians the strategic skills necessary to help lead your organization?
By bringing ACPE’s education in-house.

Bringing ACPE's physician education in-house benefits you, your organization and your staff in the following ways:

  • Convenience: Bring education to you based on your schedule.

  • Time-savings: Avoid the hassle or downtime associated with traveling.

  • Cost-effective: Get substantial group discounts.

  • Flexibility: Use a variety of education formats to suit different learning styles, including in-house, instructor-led online and self-study online. Course work can apply toward advanced degrees and board certification.

  • Increased effectiveness: Instill a feeling of camaraderie and create motivated, energized and productive team players.

How it Works

We’ll help you design an education program that fits your needs. ACPE provides support every step of the way, from curriculum planning to pre-event logistics to onsite management.

Our education content covers a broad range of timely and relevant topics, from financial decision making to teamwork, and managing physician performance to information technology. Whatever your requirement, ACPE has a course, expert faculty and format to match it.

Select faculty from top-rated universities including Tulane, Harvard, Carnegie Mellon, University of Massachusetts, University of Southern California and The Citadel. Each course is faculty-tailored to address your organization’s specific issues, and incorporate your case studies into the curriculum to help solve ongoing organizational problems.

ACPE — A Name You Can Trust

More than 50,000 physicians worldwide have placed their confidence in ACPE to provide their leadership training.

So, whether you’re looking for a one-day program to reinvigorate your team, an ongoing 3-year training curricula to transform your organization—or anything in between—ACPE’s Physician Leadership Development Program can help.

What types of courses and speakers are available through ACPE’s Physician Leadership Development Program?

Many physicians need help with ”soft skills,” such as teamwork and communication. Perhaps clinical integration or finance are hot topics within your organization. We’ve worked with physicians for more than 30 years and can address the evolving issues in health care, such as Evidence-Based Medicine, Value-Based Purchasing and more.

Are the programs fully customizable?

Absolutely. In consultation with ACPE staff and the faculty, you tailor the program to meet your specific needs. Real-life case studies from your organization also can be incorporated into the sessions. That way, you educate your staff while solving pressing issues.

How far in advance should a program/speaker be booked?

To create the most meaningful program for your organization, we recommend completing the planning at least two months prior to your first course.

Can programs be scheduled at night or on a weekend?

Yes—we will come whenever it’s convenient for you. ACPE coordinates with the speakers to find mutually acceptable dates. Saturdays, Sundays, weekdays, mornings or evenings—it’s up to you.

Where are programs held?

Programs are held at a location of your choice—in-house or at an outside facility.

What is the cost?

To bring faculty to you costs approximately $9,000 per day plus travel costs. ACPE staff will provide an estimate for your program.

Is CME available?

Yes. The American College of Physician Executives is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. All courses qualify for AMA PRA Category 1 credit™.
