Ethics and Corporate Compliance

Course Description

Ethics and Corporate Compliance are terms that have been closely linked ever since the Enron scandal. The health care industry has had its own share of corporate compliance problems. This module focuses on how health care organizations can minimize the likelihood of unethical behavior within the organization.

  • Ethics, Accountability, and Control
This course considers issues related to ethics and control in health care organizations. The special need for ethical behavior in the management of health care organizations is discussed. Issues of accountability to assure ethical behavior are discussed. The lesson also considers the elements of a control system which protects the organization from the potential consequences of unethical behavior. Finally the course considers the implications for health care organizations of the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act, which was enacted to correct some of the weaknesses exposed by the Enron and other corporate scandals.
  • Corporate Compliance
