Peter B. Angood, MD
Dr. Angood, an ACPE member since 2001, brings to the College a distinguished record of service in the field of patient safety. In addition to his role as president and CEO of the consulting firm PBA Solutions Insight, Angood also recently served as chief medical officer for GE Healthcare Patient Safety Organization (PSO). He recently completed a two-year engagement with the National Quality Forum and National Priorities Partnership as senior advisor for patient safety.
Before becoming a consultant, Dr. Angood was chief patient safety officer and vice-president for The Joint Commission, where he oversaw annual development of the National Patient Safety Goals and other patient safety initiatives. Dr. Angood has also worked with the World Health Organization Patient Safety initiatives and helped lead early development of the WHO Collaborating Center for Patient Safety Solutions.
Dr. Angood began his career at the hospitals of McGill University in Canada. He was subsequently recruited to surgery, faculty and hospital administrative positions at University of Pennsylvania, Yale University and Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to joining The Joint Commission, he was professor of surgery, anesthesia, and emergency medicine at University of Massachusetts Medical School.
Dr. Angood completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Winnipeg and received his medical degree from the University of Manitoba.
