William “Marty” Martin, MA, MS, MPH, PsyD, CHES

Dr. Marty Martin Director and Associate Professor of the Health Sector MBA program in the College of Commerce at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois as well as an adjunct faculty member at Rush University in Chicago. Dr. Martin also serves as a financial planner with Aequus Wealth Management serving physicians, individuals and entrepreneurs in transition. His first book, The Inner World of Money: Taking Control of Your Financial Decisions & Behavior is expected to be published around June of 2012. His work with Aequus Wealth Management has been featured in Kiplinger’s, the Chicago Tribune, and the Journal of Financial Planning.

Marty is a highly sought-after speaker, retreat facilitator and consultant. He has worked with medical groups, academic medical centers, community hospitals, and for-profit dialysis centers. As a member of the American College of Physician Executives faculty for many years, Marty has facilitated courses in Managing Physician Performance and Working Together As A Board at its Institutes and on-site at healthcare organizations nationwide and internationally.

Marty has served as Director of Human Resources at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and was responsible for global health management, workforce diversity, and clinical and operational reengineering. Other managerial roles that he has held include Manager of Employment & Training at Tulane University Hospital & Clinics, Director of Employee Assistance Program (EAP)/Worksite Wellness at Xavier University of Louisiana, Associate Dean of Barat College of DePaul University, and Associate Vice President of Human Resources at DePaul University.

Marty serves on the board of Aurora Health System chairing the Social Responsibility Committee and serving on the Executive Compensation Committee. He has also published an article on governance appearing in The Journal of Health Administration Education and an article on Succession Management for medical groups appearing in the Group Practice Journal which drew upon his experiences at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Tulane University, and Aurora Health System. In addition to these articles, he has published over 50 articles and book chapters. Lastly, Marty is launching a stepped care company focusing on the assessment and treatment of insomnia utilizing mobile technology.

Marty earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Rutgers University as well as a MPH degree focusing on health management and health promotion. He then served as a postdoctoral fellow in Primary Health Care Psychology. Marty has completed an Executive Graduate Certificate in the Business of Medicine from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine as well as a Certificate in Portfolio Management from the University Of Chicago Graduate School Of Business. He is one of the only Sudden Money investment professionals in the country as well as on one of the few licensees of Money Quotient. Marty earned a MS in Personal Financial Planning and intends to sit for the CFP examination.
