Lynn Helmer, MD, FACP, MBA, FACPE

Dr. Helmer combines a strong background in clinical internal medicine with an advanced business degree and additional training and experience in the world of physician executives. Her career to date includes more than 10 years of private practice, several years in an academic setting, combining teaching, practice and clinical research, stints as a vice president of medical affairs at a single hospital system, and then a senior vice president of medical affairs in a 3 hospital system. Currently she is the president of a healthcare consulting firm, DRD Healthcare Consulting, Inc.

During Dr. Helmer's private practice career, in addition to attaining partnership within her group, she was elected the managing partner of a physician partnership that worked with the hospital to develop and build a medical arts building. She was the first female physician elected by her colleagues as an at large member of the medical executive committee.

While at Cooper Medical Center faculty, she served as Associate Chief for practice operations and Division head, General Internal Medicine. In addition, she functioned as the principle investigator for a number of clinical trials at Cooper and her team won multiple regional and national awards for performance excellence.

She is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Physician Executives and was recently the physician chair of the physician executive council for VHA East Coast. She maintains active certification by the American Board of Quality and Utilization review physicians.

She is a graduate of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Hahnemann University and holds an Executive MBA degree from Drexel University.
