The politics were so squalid because the stakes were so low. I am the past President of the County Medical Society. During my one-year position, I became entrenched in local politics as it affected medicine. I learned that physicians are only heard by legislators with donations. As long as attorneys donate (more than physicians) to their respective PAC, physicians will struggle to have an impact on local politics. I would be happy to present my one-year findings in a seminar for the ACPE. My findings were eye-opening and at the same time very sad for physicians. A. J.
