Course Description

Did you learn to practice medicine in the classroom? No, but you did get necessary knowledge. You learned to practice medicine when you saw patients, got feedback, and did it again. That's skill - applying knowledge in an effective way.

Can you learn how to play the piano or play golf by reading books or listening to lectures? No. You learned by sitting down at the piano, playing notes and getting feedback from the piano or an instructor. You learn to play golf by picking up the club, trying to hit the ball and getting feedback from an instructor.

It works the same way with leadership and management. You can acquire knowledge of how to negotiate, or influence or make presentations but it's highly improbable that you can be an effective negotiator, influencer, or speaker without doing it, getting feedback, and doing it again. That's skill.

In attending ACPE courses or getting your advanced degree, you acquired knowledge. Now at ACPE's SkillBuilder™ let us help you make that knowledge come alive and use it with confidence and positive results.

ACPE's SkillBuilder™ is not mentoring and it's not coaching. SkillBuilder™ is skill specific. You'll be videotaped each time you practice. At SkillBuilder™ you'll receive instruction, practice your skill, get personalized feedback and repeat the process again and again until you've acquired the skill.

Put your knowledge to its most effective use by acquiring the skill to use it. SkillBuilder™ sessions are 1 day long and will be held in conjunction with the ACPE's Institutes so you can easily add one to other courses or take one as a stand-alone course.
