Essentials of Health Law
Course Description
An overview of health care laws and how they pertain to organizations. Includes an examination of today's hottest health care legal issues: medical error liability, managed care contracting, patient rights, and equal opportunity in the workplace.
Other topics include:
- How to negotiate the best contracts for your organization
- Antitrust and conflicts of interest
- EMTALA and other critical patient care issues
- Problem physicians-protecting patients and the organization

Target Audience
This CME activity is intended for physicians or health care leaders who wish to acquire a basic understanding of current laws which affect health care organizations. This course is an elective requirement for the degree and certification prerequisite curriculum.

Evaluation Method
Each ACPE CME activity includes an evaluation process to determine that the learning objectives have been met, and that the activity was of educational value to the target audience and was unbiased. the evaluation also assess whether or not the CME activity resulted in a change in physician practice behavior and offers participants a method of feedback.
